I wonder if we're following the same link. What do you mean "verifiable references?" The pdf source has nothing to do with the origins of the phrase, only mentioning it once outside the title. It's a work of speculative cosmology, not a linguistic investigation. Please cite these references, as I am honestly confused. Lacrimosus 01:49, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Obviously, we were not. Wendigo 01:50, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I see that now. But the other link only deals with "what gives", and doesn't detail the history of "what's up" at all. Furthermore, there's nothing in there about a religious origin for the phrase. Lacrimosus 01:53, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • I'm assuming good faith in the entire contribution. Since some of it has been backed up by the link. Wendigo 01:54, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I really feel strongly that it's not justified. The editor who added that material only provided that link, which, it turns out, doesn't support that position at all. In lieu of evidence, we can't add unverifiable information. If it is true, it should be possible to find at least one supporting source. Lacrimosus 01:58, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm. I've been trying to look through Google to see if there was any other source that verified it and I've been unsuccessful. Yeah, that was the only link that partially verified it, which casts the other parts in doubt. Feel free to remove it, I won't revert it. Wendigo 02:04, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
