Was there any particular reason you changed "As of 2004" to "As of 2004" in NAACP? The "as of" links help us spot information that may need updating in the future. I've left your edit for now, in case you had a good reason for this (your other edits seem reasonable), but I'm guessing that you did this not out of intent but because you didn't understand this. -- Jmabel 23:37, Sep 28, 2004 (UTC)

Allison, thanks for your note, and welcome to Wikipedia. You are correct -- the two words refer to the same document. I found a number of different spellings for the name on the Web, and decided to go with what was in my notes from university. I may have been incorrect -- if you feel strongly that it should be moved to a different spelling, I'll certainly accept that my spelling was questionable. You and I can then handle the relatively minor task of switching the article's names and reaiming all the links to the new name -- that article isn't linked to from many places, I think, so it shouldn't be difficult. Thanks for the careful eye. :-)

Oh, and on a side note, Jmabel didn't thoroughly explain the "as of 2004" bit. By hitting "What links here" on the left sidebar, you can always check what links to a page. The reason we leave links as "as of 2004" is so that we can go to the "as of 2004" page and check what links there. Someone will do that in early 2005 and then slowly work through to see if anything can be updated. The reason "2004" links don't work as well is that there are huge numbers of links to the specific year -- it gets too cumbersome to check all of them, looking for out-of-date information.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
