The Robert Charles Dallas who wrote the obit in the Gentleman's Magazine was probably the writer who lived from 1754 to 1824. Thanks for pointing it out - it looks from the ODNB entry that he might have been the brother of Alexander Dallas the US Treasury secretary, and this is confirmed by the entry on Alexander Robert Charles Dallas. --Matthew Kilburn 08:35, 11 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
