Early Life and Education

[edit]

Ozan Ardic was born on October 23, 1997, in Baku(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baku), Azerbaijan(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azerbaijan). He began his musical education at the State Music Academy No. 12 in Baku from 2003 to 2010. During this period, he also took private piano lessons at the Bilkent Conservatory in Ankara(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilkent_University) from 2009 to 2011. Ardic continued his piano studies with a private piano performance instructor at the Mount Royal University Conservatory(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Royal_University) from 2011 to 2016.

He completed his high school education at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir High School(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strathcona-Tweedsmuir_School), earning his diploma in 2016. Additionally, he received an International Baccalaureate Diploma from 2014 to 2016. He pursued higher education at the University of Alberta(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Alberta), earning a Bachelor of Music degree in 2021.

Career

[edit]

Ozan Ardic is known for his puristic approach to composition, organizing his works(https://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-US/Search.aspx?query=Ozan%2BArdic) into individual opus numbers. He sees each of his opuses as an individual painting representing a moment captured in time and explored in a vivid tapestry of music. Furthermore, he is known for concert improvisations(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_improvisation), which often display a unique experience for the listeners that is both fleeting in nature and authentic to the moment. This is best exemplified by the addition of an intermezzo(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermezzo) mid-program, which, in Ozan's case, is an episodic work always improvised in its entirety. This performance trademark is meant for live experience only.

Ardic has published several compositions, including:

Personal Philosophy and Style

[edit]

Ozan Ardic's compositions are known for their purely audible experience(https://ozanardic.com/oeuvre), devoid of additional context. This approach invites listeners to discover their own meanings and emotional connections within each piece. Ardic believes that the audience's attention and appreciation help each opus find its true place within the larger narrative of his artistic journey.
