Any proof (or evidence) that the term was used in gaming before StarCraft (and thus wasn't originally an acronym)?

Isn't it worth mentioning that this word is partially derived from the Chinese "gaoshou"? Similar to the Japanese "jouzu"?

YO there needs to be a new "Gosu" page for the gosu cripwalker... he's really cool, got videos on youtube.
