Discrepancy of listed snowfall range and average

[edit]

The "Pollock Pines receives annual snowfall between 6 inches (150 mm) and 6 feet (1.8 m)" does not correspond to the also posted climate table of 79.3 average per year inches of snow listed. One or the other should be incorrect, probably the sentence without citation. Of course, it could be two separate locations in the same town, as quite possibly Pollock Pines varies 1,000 feet (310 m) or more in elevation within the city boundaries. This should be researched and stated as such, if this is the case. Said discrepancies are very common in the windward chaparral to pines transition zone of the Sierra Nevada Range, where the town is located. 93.74.116.48 (talk) 08:54, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also I do not know how to post a disputed or source listing for the sentence, though they are common in Wikipedia. For those who know how, please post it behind the mentioned sentence. 93.74.116.48 (talk) 08:56, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looked up on the wiki linked Acme Map page as well as one of the contour maps. Union Hill seems inside the city limits from the miles associated on the county map, and (tiny red shaded) city limits on the main wiki page. It is 1316 meters high, or about 330 meters more than the main city center, road to the top, and may well have a lookout/weather station on the height. And there apparently is a populated southerly arm nearly all at about 1200 meters above sea level. So maybe either is the secondary location, for the rain into snow change. Shading of north eastern locations is not pronounced in the city/town limits, and usually this adiabatic cooling release does not normally have enough an averaged effect upon the snowfall within such small elevation change only two miles away on a ridge (as is the case with Pollock Pines). It quite often does significantly change the average snow accumulation average, a statistic which is not listed in the wiki for this page but is for the former Squaw Valley (renamed Palisades Tahoe as of 2020) article entry and for numerous other mountain, heavy snowfall or far northern locations. 93.74.116.48 (talk) 10:08, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
