Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – High level of IP vandalism. Blake Gripling (talk) 22:22, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done the IP disruption lasted about 40 hours, and as of now there have been no IP edits in approximately 58 hours. If disruption continues protection may be needed, however. - Aoidh (talk) 04:12, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. GraziePrego (talk) 00:48, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Disruption appears to have ceased, if it continues please re-report. - Aoidh (talk) 04:16, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Gotitbro (talk) 02:53, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Aoidh (talk) 04:16, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP users and non-confirmed accounts have repeatedly edited the page to perform the same disruptive edit of changing Michael Flynn's party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, in spite of users repeatedly pointing out that he was a registered Democrat at the relevant time. TRCRF22 (talk) 15:42, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @TRCRF22: Sorry but I can't see any mention of "Flynn" on article talk and there has to be some explanation before applying protection for this sort of problem. The most recent IP used an edit summary of "Michael Flynn is not a democrat he's a Republican, he was also a republican when he was arrested". I have no idea what is correct but if there is a repeated problem, the issue needs to be explained on article talk. That should mention what the three references say (do they mention D or R?). Johnuniq (talk) 06:09, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: WP:RUSUKR; see unsourced addition made by IP editor here SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 16:58, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @SaintPaulOfTarsus: I can only see one IP edit in the last couple of months. Unless I'm missing something, an unreverted addition of unreferenced material does not warrant protection. Johnuniq (talk) 06:20, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent for Vandalism, some IPs users keep editing and disrupting the list of film series and others as well NSAandGCHQ (talk) 17:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Johnuniq (talk) 06:21, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Sockpuppetry continues despite semi-protection. Heartfox (talk) 01:16, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. There has only been one instance and that was two days ago. Johnuniq (talk) 06:23, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: A certain editor has made repeated edits with misspelling and misuse of capitalisation. I have mentioned this in the user's talk page, but the problem continues and the user is now replacing correct use of upper case and lower case with incorrect use. Jellysandwich0 (talk) 03:17, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Fraudulent edits 2A00:23C6:D01A:7701:5816:8103:2E98:9FBC (talk) 04:04, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 05:45, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level school Al Redowan Ahmed Fahim (talk) 06:22, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. I do not see any obvious vandalism on that article's history in the past few months. - Aoidh (talk) 04:39, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – A lot of IPs incessantly repeating the whole Republican swift-boating thing and it’s generating more heat than light. Dronebogus (talk) 08:32, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @Dronebogus: I only see one recent IP edit and it is unanswered. Perhaps there should be a FAQ with a definitive answer regarding the rank. Many articles have this kind of problem and the disruption does not seem to be extreme atm. I will watch for a while but if I miss anything bad, let me know. Johnuniq (talk) 05:19, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of vandalism that needs reverting. JMHamo (talk) 13:35, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated IP vandalism. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 13:48, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move protection: Page title dispute/move warring – Possible move warring: 5 moves in 24 hours. Frost 13:58, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Sush150 (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Loads of unhelpful edits. JMHamo (talk) 14:21, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent IP content blanking and addition of promo by WP:SPAs. Amigao (talk) 14:22, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. — Saqib (talk I contribs) 14:41, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Getting heavy IP vandalism. Pelmeen10 (talk) 14:59, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary move protection: Page title dispute/move warring – Move warring without discussion. C F A 💬 15:31, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Lot of IP vandalism in the past hour due to an alleged scandal. Request protection for 3 months Skratata69 (talk) 17:42, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IOC has not ruled on the CAS ruling regarding the relative placements of Jordan Chiles and Ana Barbosu. Jordan Chiles remains the official bronze medalist until the IOC issues a ruling, but many are editing the standings to reflect the CAS decision which has no impact on the allocation of medals 2601:8C1:C180:7580:A448:B72F:C11F:BF48 (talk) 17:57, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent unsourced additions with misleading edit summaries from IP addresses since 04:40, 21 June 2024‎. Panian513 17:58, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Due to fears of an edit war by another user regarding the ages of two of the main 4 Cures. Also, violation of WP:Fandom as this user mentioned the Pretty Cure Wiki on Fandom in one of the edits. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 18:16, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Subject to continuing vandalism due to recent CAS decision 2601:8C1:C180:7580:A448:B72F:C11F:BF48 (talk) 18:25, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Subject to continuing vandalism due to recent CAS decision 2601:8C1:C180:7580:A448:B72F:C11F:BF48 (talk) 18:26, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing by what looks like the same person using different IP addresses. PatGallacher (talk) 18:52, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – People are misunderstanding the current ruling and incorrectly saying that Jordan has had her medal stripped, which hasn't happened yet. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 19:47, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – There's discussion on the talk page, but it doesn't appear to be going anywhere yet. The talk page edits haven't prevented edit warring from continuing on the article. Onorem (talk) 20:47, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @Onorem: I see the problem but it doesn't appear to be raging at the moment. Since the issue is a bit complex and it is at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Imane Khelif should get 1RR Arbitration Enforcement, I am going to duck protecting at this stage. Let me know if it flares up further. Johnuniq (talk) 04:39, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – After the two week protection expired, IPs are again requesting changes to the box office figures without reliable sources. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 01:12, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @CanonNi: There is not enough disruption since last time to warrant protection at the moment. I archived the talk page which might help reduce the junk edits. Feel free to undo unhelpful commentary with edit summary "WP:NOTFORUM" or similar, which I did for the most recent IP. Johnuniq (talk) 04:52, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Alright, thanks. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 04:59, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Back and forth editing and reverting changes. Muffin of the English (talk) 05:22, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

The title is misleading - there have been none in Wales. The page mentions N Wales Police sending reinforcements, and says that there were anti-fascist gatherings in Cardiff to protest expected events that did not happen and 'some far-right demonstrators outside the Senedd, though no conflict materialised' So no riots in Wales.
