What initially caught my attention when I read the article was the mention of Whitcomb's dishonorable discharge. From the Marines, even. That didn't ring true, and I then realized that there was a LOT of stuff that didn't ring true.

So I've made some extensive changes in the article's content, and I wonder how much of what I didn't change is accurate. I don't know for a fact, for example, that he earned letters in any sports (nor am I sure how much that belongs here in the first place). I do, however, know that Iwo Jima isn't part of the Philippine Islands.
