Establish an initial rating of the article under wikiproject California

[edit]

I have suggested an initial rating of "start-class" for this page. It is almost up to "B" class but lacks images, sufficient references and somewhat more breadth. Anlace 15:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino Americans or just Asian Americans?

[edit]

If I could, I'd state that the population is made up mostly of Filipino Americans. Here's a link to back it up: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/06/07/EB244236.DTL . However, considering I'd be naturally biased to include such information (I being raised in Hercules and Filipino), I'd ask the next person to put this in the article itself. Please, if you would. --Geopgeop 11:01, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and put it in the article, but be careful with your language. The city is not "mostly" Filipino (I also came of age there). At 27% of the population, they represent a plurality in terms of ethnic groups represented -- "mostly" would imply way over 50%. An alternative approach would be to split the Filipinos off from "other Asians" in the city's demographics (27%-42%) and then cite the article.--Dynaflow 00:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hercules seal.gif

[edit]

Image:Hercules seal.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Urban plan

[edit]

I deleted a large amount of non-neutral political and promotional text about Hercules urban planning. Wikipedia is not the place for prescriptive direction of the reader; Wikipedia describes what has happened, not what may be or what should be. Binksternet (talk) 19:05, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
