I've made a start on the Manchester United section but didn't have time to finish it, so I've put what I've done so far here. Cantthinkofagoodname 00:04, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Glory Years

[edit]

Law moved back to Withington, boarding with the same landlady that he had lived with during his time as a City player. He made a good start, scoring on his United debut in a 2-2 draw against West Brom on 18 August, 1962. However, United's form had been erratic since the Munich air disaster and their inconsistent form meant they spent the season fighting relegation. They found form in the FA Cup though, with Law scoring a hat trick against his old club Huddesfeild in a 5-0 win. They went on to reach the final against Leicester City. Leicester were strong favourites, having finished fourth in the league, but Law scored the first goal as United won 3-1 in what turned out to be the only F.A. cup final of his career.

The Decline

[edit]

I've put the above text into the article now. Cantthinkofagoodname 13:31, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious Information

[edit]

Caps and goal figures in the article likely contain European cup/Domestic cup data in addition to Domestic League data (this is very certain based on this user's previous edits containing similar information [1]. Please correct this issue and leave a note here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Alfmaster#Footballers.27_European_goals, to warn this person about putting improper information on Wikipedia. --Palffy 21:12, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page is my source for the ammended stats. Alfmaster has been informed.  Slumgum T. C.   22:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About career stats

[edit]

Law's stats for Manchester United are almost totally wrong. Check www.stretfordend.co.uk for correct data. - Eichel-Streiber (talk) 15:09, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

on the main page law scores at least 3 goals for city in 1959-60. one against leeds and two against villa. In the table summary for that season only 2 goals? i checked and the villa city game was in 1961 in which the score was 4-1. I have edited the page as it previously implied the game was in 1960 by omission. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.188.230.100 (talk) 11:44, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Last game, and other matters.

[edit]

The game against the Rags at the Swamp was not Denis's last professional club game. He played two more games for City the following season before retiring, scoring in one of them. If his name is spelt "Dennis," then he is unaware of the fact, since he signs himself "Denis." Hengistmate (talk) 10:17, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Return to Manchester City

[edit]

Have changed subject of first sentence from Tommy Doc to Denis Law. Added details of last game, v Manchester United. Corrected stats of 2nd spell at City, and added appearances and goal at beginning of season 1974-5. Have included these stats in data box. Hengistmate (talk) 14:31, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester United v. Milan 1969

[edit]

For the record, this match is available here in its entirety, and the images clearly show that Law's shot was cleared off the goal line. At 16:00, in fact, Milan's Kurt Hamrin has a goal incorrectly called offside.
