Don't merge

I don't think that any of the topics should be merged, predominantly because they each have their own histories and are evolving quite differently in the manner which we see, interpret and use them. Merging them will only confuse readers, not enlighten them.

Lengthy lead section

I have responded to the banner note that "This article's lead section may be too long for the length of the article.", and I have now removed subsequently the March 2022 "long lead" tag as a secondary minor edit. As per my original edit note, I've restructured the existing material, and moved much of it into the Overview section. I've also taken some editorial license in reformatting and restructuring for improved readability / clarity. My intent was to leave the intentions of the original authors key points unchanged. I note there is a Script warning about one or more "cite journal" templates having maintenance messages, but I don't know how to surface these. Paulszym (talk) 01:30, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
