Sears does NOT operate at the same department store level as Macy's or Dillard's. Reasons include:

-Sears has central checkout lines and shopping carts, which is clearly aimed at targeting budget department stores like Kohl's and Target. -Sears sells appliances and tools. These are departments not found in upscale department stores, e.g. Bergdorf Goodman or Barney's New York. -Previous information in this article is incorrect. Sears does NOT sell DKNY or Calvin Klein apparel. The only merchandise from these designers offered at Sears is perfume & cologne. A simple website search or phone call to your nearest Sears can verify this. -The previous revision justified placing Sears at the same level as Dillard's and Macy's because of a redesigned logo and the introduction of Sears Grand. A logo has absolutely nothing to do with retail level, and selling produce and groceries at Sears Grand actually moves Sears far downstream the retail chain as a brand name. Sears Grand aims to compete with Wal-Mart, not Macy's. -I also removed comparison to Belk because it sells only china, drinkware, flatware, and towels according to its website. I don't believe this even qualifies as a department store, and certainly should not be compared to Sears.

Overall, I strongly feel my revisions are merited, because the previous revision's assertions are FALSE. Simply go to your local Sears and look at prices of men's dress shirts, and then go to Macy's to compare. Macy's stocks brands like Hugo Boss and Hickey Freeman - Sears stocks brands like Arrow and Docker. To a distinguished shopper, there is simply no comparison.

Disambiguation

[edit]

A general search for Sears on wikipedia should be redirecting to the current company, the holdings corporation. The holdings company site links, within the top 3 lines, to the Sears, Roebuck & Co. --ABQCat 04:27, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No it should be redirecting to Sears, Roebuck and Company --Caldorwards4 18:48, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. Sears Holdings Corporation should be about the company as opposed to the actual stores. --Jnelson09 19:46, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are far too many mall pages that just put "Sears" instead of "Sears, Roebuck and Company" or "Sears Holdings". I definitely think that just plain "Sears" should redirect to one of those two. TenPoundHammer 23:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I'd say it just means we have to repair the links to the disambiguation page. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:43, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I'm done. I've repaired all the links to this dab page to point to where they're supposed to go using AWB. SchuminWeb (Talk) 14:54, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
