Magnum Opus

[edit]

According to Wikipedia, all three Opeth albums "My Arms, Your Hearse", "Still Life", and "Blackwater Park" are widely considered to be the band's magnum opus. Obviously that doesn't make much sense. Perhaps they should be changed to say "like other Opeth albums, this album received universal praise" or something along those lines? DarkSinisity (talk) 04:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Credits

[edit]

There are some credits missing. Who was the sound engineer? Assistant engineer? Who did the mix? The mastering? The cover design ? Bnm lord 09:14, 31 March 2007 (UTC)bnm_lord[reply]

Style

[edit]

while "The Funeral Portrait" and the title track more or less present the heavy death metal elements.

There are a few minutes of soft almost-blues in the middle of the title track, I don't think this statement is really correct 85.228.232.86 21:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Koch Records, cites in the lead

[edit]

I have reverted the unnecessary revert of information in the lead with a citation, specifically that of the album being released on Koch Records. WP:LEADCITE says that "The presence of citations in the introduction is neither required in every article nor prohibited in any article." If this is a huge problem, then other editors can feel free to also add the information to an appropriate section within the article itself and move the citation there. Regardless, there is no good reason to remove the information from this article. Additionally, there is no need to continually remove the wikilink to progressive death metal, although if someone wants to pipe-link it directly to technical death metal, they are again free to do so. Before undoing any more edits, bring it up here and we can discuss it to a consensus. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 17:39, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Recent removal of sourced content

[edit]

An IP recently removed the following from the article:

Much later Åkerfeldt noted that the song "Harvest" was "totally ripped off from a band called Camel" but without elaborating.<ref>On-stage commentary following performance of "Harvest", ''[[Lamentations (Live at Shepherd's Bush Empire 2003)|Lamentations]]'' DVD.</ref>

I don't have this DVD, so can someone that has it check it out and confirm whether or not this was properly sourced? MrMoustacheMM (talk) 03:21, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. Speedy close since this appears not to be controversial. EdJohnston (talk) 05:18, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Blackwater Park (album)Blackwater Park – There were a lot of links to the Blackwater Park disambiguation page. I fixed most of them and they were all intended for Blackwater Park (album) to the best of my knowledge. The only other article with a Blackwater Park title is Blackwater Park (band), a 1970s progressive band. I think the page could be moved simply to Blackwater Park since it is the most notable occurence of the name and the minor article Blackwater Park (band) page could be linked at the top of the article. There is also a mention of "the name of the gothic mansion in Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White" on the disambiguation page, but I do not think this is relevant. Permafrost46 (talk) 17:29, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just found out that the disambiguation page was added today, I think it was better before since it seems to have created a lot of links to disambiguation pages. Permafrost46 (talk) 17:32, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Whether a move creates a lot of disambiguation links isn't relevant (these can be fixed, admittedly with some time and effort put in). However, I would agree that the disambiguation page isn't needed. The move appears to have been made because of a claim that the mansion in some novel is the primary topic, but since there is no article specifically about the mansion (and the article on the novel mentions the mansion exactly once), I don't think that the album should have been moved in the first place. I have contacted the editor who made the initial move to get their input as well. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 17:42, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. If we can't agree, we can easily fix the disambiguation links with WP:CLEANER. Permafrost46 (talk) 17:44, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I'd caught all the links. Evidently missed one or two. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:03, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done, this can be closed now as uncontested WP:BRD. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:03, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This solution seems satisfactory, happy editing! Permafrost46 (talk) 00:35, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
