Flag, Emblem, Coat of Arms

[edit]

We should either expand this article from the start to talk both about the Emblem of the Republic of China and the KMT Party Flag, or we should have a separate article for the emblem. As it stands, the article is about the flag, not the emblem. --Jiang 03:48, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • I think the article should be expanded

Deletion of Kuomintang flag

[edit]

On 2006-01-30 02:14:38 the file Image:Kuomintang flag.png was deleted because it was considered redundant with Image:Naval Jack of the Republic of China.svg, and similarly Image:KMT flag.png has been tagged as redundant. I thought the flag was mostly known as the KMT flag rather than the ROC Navy flag.

My question is, Does anyone know for sure which of the two flags historically preceded the other? If the KMT insignia existed before that of the ROC Navy, then it would be more logical that the Naval Jack of ROC be renamed as the Kuomingtang flag, if both flags cannot coexist because of some rigid Wikipedia criteria. (Though personally I believe that both images should have a right to exist on their own because the KMT and the ROC Navy are two separate entities even if their insignia share the same design.)

uses

[edit]

There should be a section(s) on the use of this emblem in the Taiwanese Naval Jack and the Taiwanese Air Force Roundel. 70.51.9.124 (talk) 09:05, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

US Army 75th Rangers Regiment coat of arms

[edit]

The coat of arms of the 75th Rangers Regiment seems to use the symbol, is there any historic reason for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Puppetshand (talkcontribs) 07:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering, but...

Flag of the Balochistan Liberation Army and Baloch Nationalist Party

...is the flag of the Baloch Nationalist Party by any chance related to the KMT? Does the Baloch Nationalist Party have ideologies based on the Chinese National Party or something, given that they share the same flag motif? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 01:38, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting -- the Chinese civil war strongly affected northern Burma and some nearby areas, but hardly southern Pakistan... AnonMoos (talk) 10:32, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was originally thinking of something similar to the Vietnam Kuomintang, but it seems like there's a likely chance that the use of the white sun and blue background may be unrelated to the KMT itself. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 11:11, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

I was wondering if it is necessary to specify the usage by Chinese Muslims in the Islam section. As Blue Sky White Sun was the national emblem of the Republic of China, it can be seen on various occasions. The symbol itself doesn't indicate Halal. And in the Dang Guo period of China, KMT symbols were painted widely as to show the collaboration with the government or patriotism. The flag in the photo of the Turkic Conscripts 36th division was more likely to be the army flag of ROC. File:Republic_of_China_Army_Flag.svg. Also obviously all members of National Revolutionary Army should wear the national emblem. This seems to be a trivial fact in my opinion. -- Ericmetro (talk) 04:51, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RfC: Restore the separate National Emblem of Taiwan article

Concensus is to oppose restoration of the article.Winged Blades Godric 13:58, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I notice User:Onel5969 reverted this edit since I was the one who re-created that page since Taiwan had many historical emblems over the years. With the ongoing redirect on the PRC emblem, should this article be restored/reverted or remain as a redirect? RfC relisted by Cunard (talk) at 04:49, 23 July 2017 (UTC). Threaded discussion

  • @Chris: Taiwan had many emblems when the island was held a colony by the Europeans, Qing, Japanese and then the current Chinese gov't that governs the island. Problem is the ROC is also a rump state because it still held on to Fujian islands of Kinmen and Matsu. Supreme Dragon (talk) 18:41, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
