I'm not sure

[edit]

I'm not sure about the W. Wintu, but I do know that the Hopi and the Sioux are already federally recognised, although the Sioux are officially spread out over a number of reservations, and the Hopi "leak out" into the Navajo Nation (they're totally encased by it anyways). --Node 02:38, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Response: You might want to watch the film. By "recognize" I don't necessarily mean federally. I mean by people in general. Especially the people who trample on their land. I also encourage you to read the article about the Winnemem Wintu and to research them some more. They were erased from the BIA's list of Federally recognized tribes in the 1980's by "accident" and have not been able to recover recognition since. They have suffered a great tragedy. Today all Indian tribes that are not in the gambling industry continue to suffer because they don't make money and consequently do not really matter to the government. They still fight attempts at cultural genocide today. If this film received a bit more prominence then I think the Indian tribes all over would suffer a little bit less at the hands of the lawmakers and the people who show wreckless disregard towards the tribes and their land.

Usage of term "New age practitioners"

[edit]

The very term is POV. Even after agreeing upon what it means, one could find that many people who fit the definition are not on the same side as the mining companies on this. elpincha (talk) 20:34, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
