Your user name

[edit]

Hello. You seem to have an interest in and knowledge of old minstrel shows. Your contribution Haverly's Ragged Tambo Men is a good example. However, some of the other articles make me hesitate. Because of the nature of the topics you write about, your user name could easily be offensive to many. I understand that "darkie" "nigs" and "coon" (all words you have used in the articles you've written) may have been in common use before the civil rights movement, today many would be offended by those terms, especially when the article was written by someone with the word "coon" in their user name. Would you be willing to consider voluntarily changing your user name to something less offensive? Thank you. SWAdair | Talk 09:55, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for de kind words. Please give me advice on how to change my user name. I do not want to offend anyone, only shed some light on this dark time in American history. I think there is a tendency to white-wash over the Minstrel Man's era, but the subject isn't all black-and-white. While I say - let's call a spade a spade - if this information cannot reach modern audiences, we should tone it down.

Thanks, Scipio

Haverly's Ragged Tambo Men

[edit]

Hello, Scipio.

I'm having some difficulty verifying the information in your recently submitted Haverly's Ragged Tambo Men article. Others have had similar trouble, and the article is currently listed on the Votes for deletion page.

I was wondering if you might be able to provide some supporting data for this article?

Many thanks. -- [[User:ClockworkSoul|User:ClockworkSoul/sig]] 22:08, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

When a gentleman of your standing in the Wiki's-pedia cannot understand the Truth he had best consult the wise proverb Do that which thou Canst understand and Comprehend for thy good. I would recommend that Such Gentleman Change his business And appropriate his time and attention to a Sunday School to Learn what he Could and keep the Little Children from durting their Close.

With Sincere feelings of Gratitude for your weakness and Inability, I am Sir your superior in Scholarship
