Graphic novel

[edit]

graphic novel....does that mean it has drawings, or does that mean describing nudity or sexual activity in graphic detail? Kingturtle 11:03 25 May 2003 (UTC)

I think it's a way of making comic book sound more impressive than it is. :-) Evercat 11:43 25 May 2003 (UTC)

The term "graphic novel" is in common usage and means a full length novel that is told by way of drawings and text rather than text. It is much longer than a comic book and generally IS more impressive. Though what is unimpressive about comic books?

  • These days "graphic novel" just means "trade paperback", though. Which is presumably why The Sandman continues to be listed as a "graphic novel series" rather than a comic book one, even though there have only been two Sandman graphic novels by Gaiman.

A Pair of Rhetorical Questions

[edit]

Did Gaiman draw this comic himself? Or is the artwork in a notable comic series of such relative unimportance that the artists need not be mentioned? N. Caligon 07:34, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
